MANAGER Bobby Motaung has rubbished claims that Kaizer Chiefs are signing up free agents rather than spending money on quality players.
The Soweto giants announced eight new players who are expected to bolster the squad next season.
Asked about bringing much-wanted Bidvest Wits player Sibusiso Vilakazi to the club, Motaung told reporters at the media briefing today that Wits were not willing to sell players to Amakhosi.
Motaung said: “Wits don’t want to sell players to us because they also have a dream to one day winning the league.”
“We engaged with Wits but Vila is with the club. Wits decides if they want to release him or not.”
Motaung confirmed that Sibusiso Khumalo, Enocent Mkhabela Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Keagan Buchanan have signed contracts with Amakhosi. Also Zimbabwean duo Michelle Katsvairo and Edmore Chirambadare have joined the club from Chicken Inn and less-known about, Lewis Macha from Zambia was also unveiled.
Striker Emmanuel Letlotlo was promoted to the first team after topping the goal scoring chart at the MultiChoice Diski Challenge last season.
Defending his new recruits, the glamour boys’ manager said: “We have been negotiating with teams. There is no player that we got for free. It is difficult to get players from other teams because they don’t want to sell to Chiefs.”
Motaung also confirmed that three other players are also in the process of being signed up.
