Kaizer Chiefs Mount Ayliff supporters branch CSI initiative in progress
It was an overwhelming moment for the Gogela family from Machinini village in Mount Ayliff when they were surprisingly visited by Kaizer Chiefs supporters from the Mount Ayliff branch Wednesday the 9th of August with a lot of gifts such as food parcels, clothes, school uniform and money.
Kaizer Chiefs Mount Ayliff supporters branch sports organizer Bandile Mahamba says he saw the story on Cutting Edge then he came up with the idea to visit the family with small gifts they could afford as a branch.
“I was touched by the way the mother told her situation especially when she touched the sad part of losing her daughter Akhona Gogela who was the only one working and I decided to come up with an idea for the branch and everyone loved it and willingly contributed so many others even added more money for the family” said Mahamba
He further says this is an ongoing initiative as they are planning to help more disadvantaged families in the region.
Nozi Mantshongo the community activist and ward 06 councillor under Umzimvubu Local Municipality says the incident happened early last year 2022 after a huge rain. There is no proper bridge in the village that perhaps could have saved the Gogela’s breadwinner Akhona Gogela who drowned trying to cross from work then later found dead.
“I am so happy and grateful for what Kaizer Chiefs supporters have done for the community, the situation will never be the same especially since the kids will have proper school uniform and clothes to look good as from today,” said Mantshongo
