MZANSI NOT HAPPY WITH IDOLS!

THE shock of seeing someone faint on television created a storm on social media over the weekend.
This came after Nqobile Gumede (18) from KwaMashu, north of Durban, collapsed during the opening episode of season 12 of Idols SAafter being rejected by the judges.
Unathi Msengana rushed to help the teenager while the other judges just sat and stared. Then Gareth Cliff got up and fetched the paramedics.
Radio personality Azania Mosaka tweeted: “Where was the urgency on set? Carry on shooting rather than jump to help?”
Political analyst and radio host Eusebius McKaiser wrote: “I’m not sure Idols SA needed to show that young lady fainting. There was no need to traumatise her again.”
A user named Miliswa wrote: “This scripted Idols SA is cringeworthy. Why did you do this?”
When asked if they had taken too long to respond, Idols SA head of PR Nondumiso Mabece said: “When the incident happened on 3 February, she was immediately rushed to hospital with a member of the production crew by her side. Her family was notified and I immediately in contacted her mum.
“The hospital cleared Nqobile as not having sustained any injuries and they confirmed she had not had breakfast and was extremely anxious about her audition.”
Before her audition, Nqobile told the judges she had been accepted to study medicine at Wits, but would consider putting her studies on hold if she got a golden ticket.

KHANYI AND SOMIZI'S SHOW GETS BAD REVIEWS!
       ~ Metro FM
Metro FM announced last week that had given celebrities Khanyi Mbau, Somizi Mhlongo and Ntombi Ngcobo the 8am to 10am slot.
This was after Mo Flava and Lerato Kganyago had to be moved to host the Afternoon slot following Tbo Touch's departure.
Monday was their first day and radio fans were not amused by what they heard on their radios.
On the Metro FM Facebook pages, fans continue to express their dissatisfaction about the show and the presenters.
Khanyi  was recruited by Y-FM but eventually stopped presenting going to work because she was busy. Meanwhile Somizi used to work at Cliff Central.
      • Moore Nkonyane Yenkosi Well they say give people a second chance ....Today I woke up positive and told myself they will have settled in but joooooo nkosi yami ...It was torture just listening to that Nombie who sounds like graveyard ( 2am-5am) intern DJ on Yfm , Somizi sounds like he is some MC at some 21th birthday party, as for Khanyi dnt know if she came in to work just knock off or what ......This show is a flop period ...
      • S'beat Twin Segowa ive been listening to Metro Fm for years right now but this#WSIIA show it's a no no... come on guys what's happening?
      • Bethuel BeBe Kgopa I knew Metro FM was going the wrong direction in terms of quality presenters when they hired bo Minnie Dlamini, Pearl Thusi etc, I had always thought radio is about content, knowledge therefore you have to read a lot and not be hired because you have a following on twitter....now its Khanyi Mbau and Somizi, I simply don't undersatnd it, where are the people that have gone to school for this art? Where are the community radio presenters to be promoted? If the industry management doesn't respect the industry how is the industry going to grow?
      • Pamela Bosman I cannot stand this show! It sounds as if they don't know what they are doing! Can't Metro hire better Skilled ppl to do this! Not just celebrities that are trending!

SPRINTER Akani Simbine made a statement ahead of the Rio Olympic Games, setting a new South African 100m record at the Istvan Gyulai Memorial, a Track and Field meeting in Budapest, Hungary last night.
Simbine won the race in 9.89, dipping on the line to beat Jamaican star Asafa Powell, who finished second in 9.92.
He bettered his own national mark of 9.96 which had been set in Pretoria four months earlier.
Simbine's performance was the second national record (both still need to be ratified) set in the space of four days, after Caster Semenya clocked 1:55.33 to win the Women's 800m race at the Diamond League meeting in Monaco last week.
Simbine also won the Men's 200m race in Budapest in 20.16, bettering his previous Personal Best of 20.23, which he had set at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing last year. He covered the half-lap distance 0.08 quicker than Isiah Young of the United States, who settled for second position.
"Congratulations to Simbine and Semenya, as well as their coaches and management teams," said Aleck Skhosana, the President of Athletics South Africa.
"These performances show they are on track for the Rio Games, and we wish them well in their final preparations."
In other events, LJ van Zyl was second in the Men's 400m Hurdles in 49.78, edging out third-placed Rasmus Magi of Estonia by 0.01, with Keisuke Nozawa of Japan securing victory in 49.26. Antonio Alkana also grabbed second spot in the Men's 110m hurdles, clocking 13.44, with Balazs Baji of Hungary taking the win in 13.33.
Alyssa Conley took fifth place in the Women's 200m dash in 23.22, as Veronica Campbell-Brown of Jamaica stormed to victory in 22.52.

        PARAMEDICS ROBBED IN CAPE TOWN!
           ~
A GROUP of men attacked and robbed paramedics in Blackheath, Western Cape police said today.
Five men armed with knives confronted them while they were loading a patient on a farm in Nooiensfontein Road yesterday, Captain FC van Wyk said.
Emergency Medical Services said the paramedics were robbed of their wallets, cellphones and handbags. A female paramedic was stabbed with a broken bottle.
They had been called out just before 1am on Monday, EMS spokesman Robert Daniels said.
The robbers stole the mobile data terminal from the ambulance's dashboard. This means it can’t be used for the next few weeks.
The crew received medical attention and trauma counselling. No one was seriously injured.
"This attack will not diminish our commitment to continue providing emergency medical care, but the public should note that the safety of our emergency care workers throughout the department is our first priority," Daniels said.
"An attack on an EMS ambulance and crew, is an attack on your own community."
No arrests have been made. Police were investigating.
